Introduction
Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival (1). The best infant feeding plan for optimal growth, development and health as recommended by WHO and UNICEF are starting breastfeeding in the 1st hour of delivery, exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) for the first 6 months of life and continued breastfeeding together with suitable complementary foods for up to 2 years or beyond (2). Breastfeeding has an important role in many different countries for public health and epidemiological studies (3).
